XMUM Secures International Science Partnerships Fund for Lithium Battery Recycling Project

The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) for successfully securing funding from the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF), administered by the British Council. This reflects XMUM's ongoing efforts to strengthen international research collaboration and promote sustainable innovation.

The funded project, titled "Strengthening Collaboration for Sustainable Lithium Battery Recycling: Knowledge Exchange and Technology Optimization", aims to promote sustainable development and environmental protection by optimizing recycling technologies. It aligns with Malaysia's national goals of reducing environmental impact and supporting clean energy transitions, while also contributing to global net-zero emissions targets.

The project will be led by Prof. Dr. Volker Hessel from the University of Adelaide, Prof. Dr. Evgeny Rebrov from the University of Warwick, and Prof. Dr. Huang Nay Ming from XMUM. Prof. Dr. Janet Lim Hong Ngee from Universiti Putra Malaysia will serve as the academic partner, while SRT Tech Realistic Sdn Bhd will participate as the industry partner.

The total funding awarded is £78,546.06, with the project scheduled to run from 1 March 2025 to 31 December 2026.The ISPF is a UK government initiative managed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
