XMUM Hosts “ReAction Exchange Benchmarking Visit” to Foster Inter-University Collaboration

On 1st of April, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) IChemE Student Chapter proudly hosted the “ReAction Exchange Benchmarking Visit,” welcoming student representatives and student advisors from the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Club (CEUC) of Universiti Malaya (UM) and the IChemE Student Chapter of the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM). The visit aimed to strengthen inter-university connections while promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration among future chemical engineers.

After an opening by Dr. Chuah Chong Yang (UM), Dr. Lau Phei Li (UNM) and Dr. Kua Yin Leng (XMUM), the event commenced with an engaging sharing session featuring club presidents from all three institutions. Representatives exchanged insights on their respective organizational structures, flagship events, and strategies for enhancing student engagement. The session provided a valuable platform for benchmarking best practices and exploring opportunities for future collaborations.

Following the sharing session, participants took part in a lively networking and ice-breaking session. Through interactive activities, students from different universities connected, fostering a friendly and collaborative atmosphere while building meaningful relationships beyond institutional boundaries.

The visit continued with a guided campus tour led by XMUM committee members. Visitors were introduced to key facilities and learning spaces within the campus, gaining a deeper understanding of XMUM’s academic environment and campus culture.

The tour also provided an opportunity for informal discussions and further exchange of ideas among participants.

The day concluded with a warm and enjoyable dinner, where attendees continued their conversations in a relaxed setting. The shared meal strengthened camaraderie and marked a fitting end to a day filled with learning, exchange, and connection.

The “ReAction Exchange Benchmarking Visit” successfully brought together passionate chemical engineering students, inspiring collaboration and reinforcing the importance of building strong academic networks across universities.
