Master in NESE Viva Voce Announcement: Congratulations to Mr Eugene Ling Wei Hong (MEG2205001)
The School is pleased to announce that Mr Eugene Ling Wei Hong (MEG2205001) from Master in New Energy Science and Engineering has passed his viva voce with Minor Correction held on 22nd May 2026.
Eugene defended his Master dissertation "Development of a Quasi-Distributed Polymer Optical Fiber Sensor System for Humidity Monitoring using Wavelength-Intensity Coupled Detection" or "湿度传感系统研究基于波长-强度耦合检测的准分布式聚合物光纤" under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr Chong Su Sin. His work has been published in SCI-indexed journals, eg: Sensor Review (IF: 1.4) & RSC Sustainability (IF: 4.9). In addition, Eugene has won several awards for his project including National Smart Farming Challenge Techlympics Competition 2022-3rd Place, gold medal in Malaysian National Nanotechnology Olympiad (ONM) Competition 2022 & 2nd International Nanotechnology Olympiad (INO) Competition 2024– Best Project.
In this viva, the Internal Examiner was Assoc. Prof. Dr Yap Seong Shan and the External Examiners were Prof. Ir. Dr Malathy Batumalay (INTI International University) & Assoc. Prof. Dr Fauzan bin Ahmad (UTM). The Chair was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haw Choon Yian and the secretary was Ms. Najah Aliah.
