Chemical Engineering PhD Student Awarded "MyMembrane Young Scientist"
The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Lau Hui Shen, a PhD student from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, on receiving the MyMembrane Young Scientist Award at the 3rd Regional Congress on Membrane Technology 2024.
Lau Hui Shen has been conducting her research under the supervision of Prof. Ir. Dr. Yong Wai Fen since her Final Year Project.
Held from 30 September to 1 October 2024 at Impiana Hotel Senai, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, this Congress, under the theme “Innovating Solutions for Water-Energy-Food-Health-Ecosystem Nexus towards Sustainable Future”, served as a pivotal gathering dedicated to addressing pollution brought by industrialization through transformative ideas and collaborative initiatives, with a focus on advanced membrane technology.
Lau Hui Shen’s research focuses on the development of sustainable membrane materials and separation membranes, particularly for carbon capture, biogas upgrading, and air purification. Her project explores innovative methods for the sustainable production of membrane materials by utilizing green fabrication strategies, while addressing international treaties on pollution control and climate action.
The MyMembrane Young Scientist Award is a highly regarded honor sponsored by the Malaysia Membrane Society (MyMembrane), presented to young researchers in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to advancing innovation and sustainability to the field of membrane science and technology.
