Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping Delivers Invited Talk at MOSTI's Agro-Biotechnology Institute
On 22 April 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping delivered a talk at Agro-Biotechnology Institute (ABI), following an invitation from Dr. Seetha Jaganathan King, Director of the Institute.
ABI is a prominent research institute under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), focusing on agriculture and food security.
The talk, titled Sustainable Agriculture and Circular Bioeconomy, attracted an audience of over 70 researchers from Agro-Biotechnology Institute. During the talk, Dr. Tan Jian Ping highlighted the research strengths of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), particularly in sustainable agriculture and biochemical engineering, and shared insights into ongoing collaborations between XMUM and ABI that have been established prior to the event.

The session saw active participation from ABI researchers, with discussions on potential collaborative initiatives. Dr. Seetha expressed interest in further strengthening ties between the two institutions, including opportunities for research attachments at ABI.
Currently, the collaboration between XMUM and ABI has led to project grants funded by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, as well as joint scientific publications under review in high-impact journals. One of the key projects focuses on developing biofertilizers for plantation disease management, contributing to national efforts in food security.
