Research work is an exciting and insightful journey, and I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to Dr Haw Choon Yian for providing me with this once in a lifetime opportunity. Research has sparkled my passion and curiosity towards exploring innovative solutions in photocatalysis aimed to tackle global energy security. Under the watchful eye of Dr Haw and months of dedicated effort, it is my honor to be able to publish my recent work in a well-established academic journal. It has influenced the direction of my research interests, enhanced my analytical skills, and imbued my research life with a clear sense of purpose. 

Passion will remain as ambition without the adequate resources and committed professionals to shape your talent into reality. Started my postgraduate research journey under Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin since 2021, I have been able to explore various opportunities in research and academia, gaining the necessary soft and hard skill sets for my future career. All thanks to continuous support from the postgraduate lecturers and departmental staff in nurturing research-talented individuals, I was given the chance to publish papers in high-impact factor journals, attend international conferences, and establish connections with like-minded professionals. 

Under the guidance of Prof. Ong Wee Jun, my postgraduate journey in 3D printing for photocatalysis in energy and fuel applications has been transformative. It has shaped my research interests, refined my analytical skills, and instilled a sense of purpose in my research life. The publication of my recent literature review paper in a scholarly journal was immensely gratifying, representing months of dedicated effort, relentless pursuit of excellence, and a deep-seated passion for advancing knowledge and innovation in 3D printing and catalysis.

After graduating from the NESE undergraduate program, I have had the opportunity to delve even deeper into photothermal research under the mentorship of Dr. Haw Choon Yian. My postgraduate journey began with the exhilarating achievement of having a research paper published in Wiley Solar RRL. This experience significantly enhanced my understanding of the scientific research community as well as the importance of good data presentation. With Dr. Haw's guidance, I have refined my skills in data analysis and interpretation, delving not only into photothermal research but also into post-experimental simulation studies that bolster our findings. This journey has been both intellectually stimulating and personally rewarding, fueling my passion for advancing knowledge and making meaningful contributions to the field.

I am Lex Lim Chen Wei, currently in my third semester of Year 2 at XMUM. My childhood passion for chemical experiments, coupled with a deep interest in technological advancements, drove me to pursue a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. XMUM's outstanding facilities and serene campus, featuring state-of-the-art laboratories and a simulated integrated power plant, offer invaluable hands-on learning experiences. I eagerly anticipate delving into future developments and conducting research to address societal and environmental challenges with innovative solutions.

As an international student from Jordan, I chose Xiamen University Malaysia for its distinction as the first overseas campus established by a Chinese university in Malaysia. I seek exposure to its global outlook, renowned teaching, research quality, and cultural diversity. Mentored by Dr. Tan Jian Ping, I delved into projects spanning palm oil, biorefinery, and bioprocessing. My final-year project focused on glycerol fermentation using microbial strain, utilizing advanced instrumentation. For my capstone project, I developed a process for producing Styrene Butadiene Latex from crude palm oil via bio-naphtha, employing Aspen Plus simulation software. Internships refined my skills in control systems design, process optimization, and consultation for chemical treatment plant design. Participation and winning several national and international competitions with my team strengthened my ability to apply innovative solutions to complex challenges in sustainable hydrogen fuel and green polymers.

I am deeply appreciative to the school for granting me the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired over the past four years through the capstone project. Throughout this endeavor, I have not only honed my skills in teamwork but also gained a profound sense of accomplishment and industry awareness. My heartfelt gratitude extends to my fellow group members and my supervisor, Dr. Kua, whose encouragement and guidance have provided me with invaluable insights into chemical engineering design, enabling significant learning experiences.

I am Yeow Teck Ann, a recent graduate in chemical engineering. I extend my sincere gratitude to the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering (SECE), Xiamen University Malaysia for its facilities and dedicated lecturers. Through engaging in both coursework, internship and various projects, I have gained invaluable insights into the chemical engineering industry. Moreover, the school’s support for XMUM IChemE Student Chapter provided opportunities to refine our leadership skills. Thank you SECE for shaping my academic journey.

Studying Chemical Engineering as an undergraduate at XMUM has been an enriching journey. The program's comprehensive curriculum and hands-on approach in engineering software utilization have equipped me with practical skills and theoretical knowledge crucial for my internship in an engineering consulting firm. I seamlessly applied P&ID knowledge learned in CME103 Chemical Engineering Drawing class to real-world projects. Looking forward to leverage on other available facilities such as SIPP to enhance my competency. Grateful to meet many helpful lecturers and fellow course mates who supported me along the way!
