About Me

Dr. Ngan Cheng Loong joined the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University Malaysia as an Assistant Professor where he has been since 2017. Previously, he had been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2015. He received his BSc. (Hons.) and then, Ph.D. in Colloid Chemistry from University Putra Malaysia. He is a Member (MMIC) of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM), Malaysia.

  • Doctor of Philosophy, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia, 2015
  • Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Industrial Chemistry), Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia, 2011

  • Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (IKM): Member (MMIC)
  • Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT): Graduate Technologist

Research Interests

His research areas are primarily focused on surface and interface of material science and nanotechnology involving pharmaceutical development for therapeutics and diagnostics. His interests include designing green and sustainable smart drug vehicles such as particles, vesicles and emulsions for oral, transdermal and pulmonary deliveries as well as scaffold synthesis. This includes engineered lipid-based vehicles in controlled release formulations for enhanced targeting efficacy, biocompatible scaffold for skin regenerative engineering and biomimetic nanomaterials for biomolecules sensing. He is also interested in the application of machine learning particularly in processes involving drug formulation, phase separation and environmental remediation.

Research Projects

  • Controlled release of biocompatible porous metal organic framework powders for drug delivery.
