About Me
Graduated with Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Chemical Engineering, Masters of Science in Engineering and PhD in Hydrogen Energy, I have carried out research work related to membrane and electrocatalysts applied for fuel cells and electrolyser. Currently, I hold the position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow cum Executive at Center of Excellence of NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology (CONNECT) at Xiamen University Malaysia. My current main interests in research lies in the catalyst and system development for paired CO2 reduction and biomass oxidation electrolysis system.
PhD in Hydrogen Energy, UKM, 2026
- Masters of Science in Engineering, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, 2020
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Chemical Engineering, Taylor’s University, Malaysia, 2018
Research Interests
My research focuses around the field of renewable and hydrogen energy, nanomaterials and electrocatalysis.
Specifically, my past research work during my academic study years involved in the development of components for the hydrogen fuel cell and water electrolyser for production of green hydrogen.
During my Master’s program at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, I have worked on a composite proton exchange membrane (PEM) for application in high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell (HT-PEMFC). The polymer was based on polybenzimidazole (PBI) modified by functionalized graphene oxide (GO) that exhibited improvement in terms of ionic conductivity and swelling control.
In my PhD program at Fuel Cell Institute, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, my research had shifted from fuel cell membranes to electrocatalysts for water electrolysis. The electrocatalysts were specifically bimetal nickel (Ni)-based alloys for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) applied in alkaline anion exchange membrane water electrolyser (AAEMWE). While my focus has been for the HER electrocatalysts, I was also involved in the fabrication of oxygen evolution (OER) electrocatalysts using Ni-based alloys. The HER electrocatalysts were also applied in a lab-scale AAEMWE electrolyser system which had shown good performance and stable hydrogen output, therefore has potential for longer term, larger scale AAEMWE systems.
My current research at Center of Excellence of NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology (CONNECT) at Xiamen University Malaysia now mainly focuses on the catalyst development for CO2 electroreduction and biomass electrooxidation. In this research, I intend to explore advanced characterization involving DMF simulation and developing a zero-gap electrolysis system that pairs CO2 reduction and biomass oxidation for the production of value-added products along with waste mitigation.
