About Me

Dedicated Natural Products Chemist specialising in phytochemistry, metabolomics, and bioactive compound discovery from medicinal plants. I obtained my PhD in Organic Chemistry from Universiti Malaya and has discovered several bioactive novel natural compounds, including Stenophyllols A-C, Glabraquinones A-B, and a new oxoaporphine alkaloid, unlocking promising therapeutic abilities. I also completed a research internship at Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan, on peptide synthesis for bioactive nanomolecular carriers and participated in community outreach with Indigenous communities in Namasia DIstrict, Taiwan. My current research integrates metabolomics, molecular networking and green extraction for sustainable bioactive compound discovery.

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry (Natural Products Chemistry), Universiti Malaya, Malaysia (2024)

  • MSc in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia (2009)

  • BSc (Hons) Science Education (Chemistry), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia (2006)

  • Member, Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM), M/6691/10724/24

Research Interests

My research focuses on the discovery of bioactive natural products from medicinal plants through the integration of phytochemistry, analytical chemistry, and molecular networking. I am particularly interested in applying advanced spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques and in-silico screening to identify novel compounds with therapeutic potential. Current work explores green extraction and sustainable separation technologies, and metabolomics-driven natural product discovery. My long-term research goal is to advance the valorisation of Malaysian medicinal plants and agricultural biomass as sustainable sources for the development of innovative functional foods and novel therapeutic agents.
