About Me

Ir. Dr. Oh Kai Siang is an Assistant Professor at the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, Xiamen University Malaysia. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng, IChemE, UK) and Professional Engineer (PE, BEM, Malaysia). He received his Bachelor degree and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Monash University Malaysia. Dr. Oh’s research focuses on sustainable water and wastewater treatment, membrane technology, biopolymers, and process engineering. His expertise covers various innovative solutions, including decentralized sewage treatment vessels (DSTV), polyelectrolyte chitosan–alginate membranes for greywater filtration, anaerobic digestion packing, sustainable urban drainage system (SuDS).

Research Interest

Dr. Oh’s research focuses on advancing sustainable water and wastewater treatment through the integration of various technologies and process engineering. He explores a wide spectrum of innovative solutions to address water challenges. His expertise includes the development of decentralized sewage treatment vessels (DSTVs) for adaptable on-site treatment, the design of polyelectrolyte chitosan–alginate membranes for efficient greywater filtration, and the application of biological treatment systems to enhance pollutant removal. In addition, he investigated sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) to improve climate resilience and urban water management. His work contributes to building practical, scalable, and environmentally responsible water treatment strategies.
