About Me
Dr. Chong is currently an Assistant Professor at School of Energy and Chemical Engineering (SECE), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM). She was the Recipient of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship awarded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council in 2014. Furthermore, with an Overseas Research Award supported by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), she spent 6 months in Zhejiang University in 2016 as visiting scholar. In addition to publishing her work in peer-reviewed journal articles, she also supervises postgraduate and undergraduate student research projects; serves as a reviewer for Elsevier and Royal Society of Chemistry publishing groups.

Research Interest
Dr. Chong’s research focuses on interface and materials engineering for advanced rechargeable battery systems. Research areas include aqueous zinc-ion batteries, dual-ion batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and flexible energy storage devices, with emphasis on regulating metal deposition behavior, ion transport, and interfacial stability. Current work involves zincophilic interface design, functional interlayers, electrolyte and interphase engineering, and sustainable nanomaterial synthesis for high-performance and safe energy storage.
